Why should I get involved?

Hundreds of thousands of women and children in our country, are living with domestic abuse and coercive control. They are our mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and cousins. They are your neighbour, teachers, or the stranger beside you in the checkout queue at the shop. They could be you.

How can I get involved?

Educate yourself

Take time to find out more about domestic abuse and coercive control.

Talk about it

Shame and stigma are the two biggest reasons why women don’t report domestic abuse and coercive control. Silence allows domestic violence to continue. So, let’s talk about it. By talking about domestic violence, we help to lift the shroud on this secretive and pervasive problem.

Untruths

Domestic abuse is not out of character, a one-off incident or just happens after a few drinks/when someone is under pressure. Dispel the myths.
